Esther Le Roy Studio

Esther Le Roy Studio is a Brussels-based creative office that is essentially active in the fields of art, architecture and culture, from publications to exhibition design via artistic direction, web design and the creation of visual identities for both public and private institutions as well as for private individuals. Founded by Esther Le Roy (a French designer-typographer) and involving a regular team of expert collaborators whom she brings together and activates depending on the nature of the project, the Studio is a collective enterprise on a variable scale whose practice is at once versatile and exploratory.

Rather than search for new representations, the Studio takes a functionalist approach to design, investing it as a way to bring out new meanings, reveal novel positions and question our actions. The Studio also cultivates a self-reflexive and committed approach to editorial design, seeing the book as a (potentially self-)critical medium which, while lending itself to all manner of metamorphoses, is capable of revealing new meanings, as long as we question its form, audience and conditions of access as well as the canons and commonplaces on which it is based. Lastly, Esther Le Roy Studio has a specific interest in projects that are critical, alternative or simply unexpected, projects rooted in a need to find form, existence and sharing.
